About This Product

This is your morning skin drench – a comprehensive hydration and protection spray designed to prep and protect before your oil layer.

We've built it on rose hydrosol instead of plain water* because every ingredient should earn its place. The rose adds gentle soothing and hydration from the first application. Then we've layered in the actives: ectoine and trehalose for cellular protection, acetyl zingerone for advanced antioxidant defence, and niacinamide plus panthenol for B-vitamin skin nutrition.

Apply, let it absorb, then follow with your oil-based products. Your skin is now hydrated, protected, and ready for the day.

Why These Ingredients

Ectoine — An extremolyte from desert bacteria that creates a protective hydration shell around cells. Strengthens barrier, reduces water loss, defends against environmental stress. 

Trehalose — The survival sugar that helps tardigrades survive in space. Cellular protection and autophagy activation. 

Acetyl Zingerone — A next-generation antioxidant that addresses "dark CPDs" – the DNA damage that continues forming hours after sun exposure. Protection that extends beyond the moment. 

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) — Strengthens barrier, regulates sebum, helps protect against visible sun damage. The skincare workhorse. 

Panthenol (Vitamin B5) — Deep hydration, used medically to support skin wound healing

Rose Hydrosol — Our base. Gentle, soothing, and skin-compatible. Centuries of traditional use for good reason. 

How to Use

1-3 sprays onto your hand and then apply to face, throat and decolletage (the top of your chest that is exposed to the sun). Allow to absorb for a moment, then follow with your oil-based products – we recommend our Vitamin C serum in squalane, which locks in the water layer while adding its own protective benefits.  Also teams well with Blue Tansy Balm, Moisturising Balm for Extra Dry Skin, Pure Olive Squalane and Moisturising Body Oil with Natural Vitamin E.

This is the water phase of your morning routine. Oil comes after.

3. Vitamin C Serum, Centella Serum, Blue Tansy Serum, Moisturing Balm for Extra Dry Skin or other oil based moisturiser
4. SPF 15+ | Daily Moisturising Sunscreen

Evening (Good Night Skin)

1. Cleanse
2. Copper peptide serum
3. Vitamin C oil or squalane

The acetyl zingerone in Skin Shield chelates copper, so keep it separate from copper peptides. Morning/evening separation solves this naturally.

A Note on Fragrance

We're a fragrance-free brand – we don't add fragrance to our products. This spray has a light, natural rose scent from the rose hydrosol base. It's not added fragrance; it's simply what the ingredient smells like. The scent is subtle and dissipates quickly after application.

Storage

Store in a cool place away from direct sunlight. No refrigeration required, but refrigeration will extend shelf life if desired. Use within 12 months of opening.

The Honest Note

This product brings together some genuinely interesting ingredients – the dark CPD story with acetyl zingerone, the extremolyte protection from ectoine, the tardigrade connection with trehalose. We've built it to be a comprehensive morning prep that does more than just hydrate.

Is it essential? No – you can have a perfectly good routine without it. But if you appreciate ingredients that go beyond the basics and want your water phase to actually do something, this is what that looks like.
